How to join

Membership is open to everyone in Tasmania. It is free and enables you to borrow from any of our libraries around the state and access a range of eResources.

Online-only membership

Residents of Tasmania can join the library as an online-only member for instant access to our eResources and to place holds on physical items.

Upgrade to a full membership at anytime by visiting any of our libraries. Please bring proof of identity.

Full membership

Residents of Tasmania can join in person at any of our libraries. If you are an adult, please bring proof of identity. Children and people under 18 years of age need to bring a parent or guardian with them when they join to act as guarantor.

Visitors to Tasmania

Visitors can apply in person at any of our libraries for a 3 month membership. This entitles you to borrow physical items such as books, magazines and DVDs. Our libraries also offer a range of facilities such as Wi-Fi, computers, printing, photocopying and scanning.
