6.3 Bans – grounds for imposing
We issue a Ban Notice as a last resort when someone fails to comply with a temporary exclusion, or their unacceptable behaviour is more severe. A person may be banned from entering Libraries Tasmania premises if they demonstrate behaviour that:
- Is non-threatening but persistently disruptive to others.
- Is an inappropriate use or abuse of library privileges.
- Contravenes Libraries Tasmania policies or conduct expectations.
- Impacts on the security or safety of others, Libraries Tasmania collections or equipment.
- Has resulted in multiple reports to Libraries Tasmania or DECYP reporting systems.
- Raises concerns for a child’s safety and wellbeing such as abuse or neglect, e.g. sexual abuse, grooming and other harmful sexual behaviour.
- Leads to an emergency event.
- Is in breach of the Libraries Regulations 2022 and/or the Archives Regulations 2014 and any other relevant State or Federal legislation.
This list is not exhaustive and does not exclude other reasons for imposing a ban.
