6.3 Bans – grounds for imposing

We issue a Ban Notice as a last resort when someone fails to comply with a temporary exclusion, or their unacceptable behaviour is more severe. A person may be banned from entering Libraries Tasmania premises if they demonstrate behaviour that:

  • Is non-threatening but persistently disruptive to others.
  • Is an inappropriate use or abuse of library privileges.
  • Contravenes Libraries Tasmania policies or conduct expectations.
  • Impacts on the security or safety of others, Libraries Tasmania collections or equipment.
  • Has resulted in multiple reports to Libraries Tasmania or DECYP reporting systems.
  • Raises concerns for a child’s safety and wellbeing such as abuse or neglect, e.g. sexual abuse, grooming and other harmful sexual behaviour.
  • Leads to an emergency event.

This list is not exhaustive and does not exclude other reasons for imposing a ban.
