3.3 Public internet safety
Libraries Tasmania supports intellectual freedom by providing public internet access, enabling users to explore a wide range of information and ideas online. This access is balanced with the responsibility to maintain a safe and lawful digital environment.
Web filtering software is used on public PCs and Wi-Fi to restrict access to illegal or inappropriate content while ensuring users can access diverse and legitimate information sources. Sometimes, a website may be incorrectly classified and individuals can request a website reclassification to access the site. More information is available at DECYP Information and Communications Technology Web Filtering Policy.
Individuals agree to the Internet Conditions of Use before accessing library internet services. Attempts to bypass filtering to access illegal material, such as child abuse content, will be reported to Tasmania Police.
