The Matter of Facts: Media literacy workshop at Glenorchy Library

Event Details

Date: 7 September 2026
Time: 2:00 pm
Duration: 2 hours
Location: Glenorchy Library

Event Description

The Australian Library and Information Association and Western Sydney University, in partnership with the ABC invite you to this media literacy workshop to equip you to better identify false information.

The Matter of Facts follows former war correspondent Hamish Macdonald for a thrilling ride into the hostile frontlines of our global information. We are all navigating a digital ecosystem where truth and lies can be indistinguishable, and where information is created - at scale - to change what we believe, how we behave and who we vote for. If you want to build practical and relevant media literacy skills, this event is for you.

The ABC, in partnership with the Australian Library and Information Association and Western Sydney University, has developed this workshop to equip communities to better identify misinformation. The 2-hour workshop will include a presentation, guided discussion and an activity. Following the workshop, participants will receive links to resources to explore at home. Please note that this workshop has been developed around the ABC docuseries The Matter of Facts and includes resources and clips from the series.

This is a free event, with bookings essential.
