Join State Library and Archives exhibitions curators for a tour of All the fires comes alive.

This exhibition has at its heart a 1651 publication of Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy.

Nearly five hundred years later, it is upheld by scholars and magicians as the most significant book about western esotericism ever written.

All the fires come alive kindles from the occult foundations of Agrippa’s tome while also straying freely into the magical undergrowth. All is not as it seems.

Within the Allport Museum, artists have responded to the distinct rooms, atmosphere and layered histories of the site. These installations unfold in dialogue with the building and the State Library and Archives of Tasmania collection.
