From Thursday 10 to Thursday 17 April, libraries across the state are celebrating Youth Week Tasmania 2025 and the empowering theme Courage: Stepping out of your comfort zone.

South 

Bands of Courage

Date: 10–17 April.

Build your own Band of Courage bracelet using beads to spell a word that means courage to you. Available at Bridgewater, Glenorchy, Hobart, Huonville, Kingston and Rosny libraries – drop in any time during opening hours.


Boundless Bunting

Date: 10–17 April.

Be bold, get creative and decorate a flag for your library’s Boundless Bunting this Youth Week. Design and decorate a bunting flag that shows what personal strength means to you. Available at Glenorchy, Hobart, Huonville, Kingston, Rosny and New Norfolk libraries – drop in any time during opening hours. 


Nintendo Switch Play-Off at Glenorchy Library

Date: 15 April 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Do you have what it takes to be number 1? Don’t miss the Nintendo Switch Play-Off at Glenorchy Library this Youth Week.


North 

Youth Week Drop-in at Launceston Library

Date: Wednesday 16 April 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Ages: 12–18
Spend time in our hangout space during Youth Week. Choose from digital or board games, watch some anime or design a mug, coaster, or tote bag! 


Easter Youth Drop-in and Maker Space at Launceston Library

Date: Thursday 10 April 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Run by headspace and Cornerstone’s Young Aboriginal Support Program in partnership with Libraries Tasmania. A casual social activity for young people to create a series of craft items for Easter. The day will include a jar decorating activity, creative card making and general group fun and interaction.


North West 

Nintendo Switch Gaming at Queenstown Library

Date: Tuesday 15 April 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm 

Whether you’re a Mario Kart master, a Super Smash Bros. champion or just looking to chill with some great games, there’s something for everyone! Bring your friends, test your skills and enjoy a fun-filled gaming session at the library. Ages 12–17 


Quote & Tote at the Smithton Library

Date: Wednesday 16 April 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm 

Design a custom canvas tote bag with a favourite quote, lyric or artwork. Use Canva to bring your vision to life with heat transfer paper. Take home a bag that’s uniquely yours! Ages 12–17 


Crochet a Bookmark at Burnie Library

Date: Tuesday 15 April 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 

A beginner’s workshop – learn to crochet a charming flower bookmark. This session will guide you through the basics of crocheting. Create a beautiful and functional piece to keep or gift. Unwind, get creative, and enjoy a fun, hands-on experience. Ages 12–17 


Maker Space at Devonport Library

Date: Tuesday 15 April 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Come and get crafty at our Maker Station! You can design your own badge, sticker or tote bag, or make a ‘zine (a mini magazine) or create something unique based on what you’re into. It’s your chance to get creative and make something awesome! Ages 12–17
