Applications for the Aurora Foundation Leadership Program are now open

The State Library and Archive Trust (SLAT) invites applications from Tasmanian Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) Professionals for funding to attend the Aurora Leadership Program. This event will be held in Sydney from 17-22 November 2024.

The Aurora Institute for Emerging Leaders is an annual five day face-to-face intensive program. This exciting and challenging residential experience activates personal and professional growth. Participant will take part in a supportive learning community, focusing on career planning and development.

Aurora’s leadership program is for aspiring and emerging leaders within the GLAM sector. It supports diversity and welcomes anyone who is ready to unlock their leadership potential. This program accelerates professional growth and helps participants to become influential leaders.

SLAT, through the Sir John Morris Memorial Trust Fund, is willing to support two suitable Tasmanian applicants to attend this program.  Information about SLAT and the Sir John Morris Memorial Fund can be found here: Governance and trust

Applications require the following seven documents

  1. Your current Resume.
  2. A short statement detailing where you consider you are in your leadership journey, for example, are you an aspiring or an emerging leader and why you consider this to be so (200-250 words max).
  3. A short statement detailing your aspirations for your career and leadership should you be successful in securing a spot on this year’s Institute (200-250 words max).
  4. A short statement about what diversity means to you (200-250 words max).
  5. A statement of recommendation and support from your employer.
  6. A completed Sir John Morris Memorial Trust Fund application form. 
  7. A completed ‘statement by a supplier’ form.

Applications will not be considered unless they include all seven documents.

Key features to be demonstrated by applicants

The institute is looking for individuals who demonstrate:

  • aspiration and a hunger to understand leadership and be the best possible leader they can
  • aptitude, knowledge and skills to be engaged and stretched, and to learn and self-reflect
  • curiosity, emotional maturity and empathy, and the ability to handle the Institute content and challenges it might bring up for them
  • refined understanding of diversity
  • organisational support for them undertaking the Institute.

Important Information

If your application to the State Library and Archive Trust is successful, it will be forwarded to the Board of the Aurora Foundation for final approval before your place in the program is confirmed.

Applications

Applications should be emailed to the Secretary of SLAT secretary.slat@decyp.tas.gov.au by COB Monday 19 August 2024.  Successful applicants will be notified by mid-September.
