2.2 Intended use
Applicants must state the purpose of the room hire on the Meeting Room Hire Application Form including whether the room will be used for a private activity or an activity open to the public. Room hire for public events are subject to additional considerations to maintain safe and inclusive spaces.

| All hires (private or public) | Hire applications will not be approved if the intended use: - may disrupt staff, library operations, or visitors
- risks damage to, or misuse of facilities or collections
- may harm the reputation of Libraries Tasmania, DECYP, or the State Government
- involves retail sales, commercial profit-making, or similar ventures
- includes the sale of alcohol
- is for a social event such as a birthday party or family gathering

| Public activity hire only | Hire applications will not be approved if the intended use:- is inconsistent with Libraries Tasmania’s commitment to safe and inclusive spaces
- constitutes an unlawful gathering or promotes harm, discrimination, or exclusion
- is for partisan political activities or religious instruction/services/ceremonies
- is to lobby or advocate on politically or community-sensitive matters
