Write a love letter to your library

Media Release

9 February 2023

Tasmanians from Geeveston to Whitemark and from St Helens to Strahan are being encouraged to head to their local library and share how the library brings joy to their life.
Anyone and everyone who loves their local library can drop in a note on Library Lovers’ Day celebrated nationally on 14 February, or anytime throughout February.
“We are keen to hear how your world is a better place because of your library,” said Alison Triffett, Information Services Coordinator at Rosny Library. “We encourage everyone to come and add to our Library Lovers’ Day displays, whether it is a written message, a drawing or perhaps reading what others have already shared in their library love letter.”
Library staff run community spaces that are free for everyone. “You can borrow items, sit and read, use free Wi-Fi, come to one of our many free programs or get help with family research, or with your computer, device, reading, writing and maths skills at your local library,” AlisonTriffett said.
Visit in person at any of the 45 public libraries across Lutruwita/Tasmania, pick up a flyer, and jot down how the world is a better place because of your library.
Libraries Tasmania’s locations are among the most visited sites in Tasmania, attracting around 2.3 million visits each year, with 40 per cent of Tasmanians (more than 200 000 people) using their libraries.
Follow Libraries Tasmania on Eventbrite or Facebook to find out how your local library is celebrating Library Lovers’ Day.
