Reading is magic at Libraries Tasmania during Children’s Book Week

Media Release
13 August 2024

Libraries across Australia are ready for the biggest children’s reading event of the year, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Children’s Book Week.

Libraries Tasmania is celebrating this year’s theme – Reading is Magic from Saturday 17 August until Friday 23 August.

Families with children of all ages are invited to explore the magic of reading by dressing up, singing songs, listening to stories and reviewing their favourite books at their local library.

Book Week also celebrates the magic of reading with Australian storytellers and creators.

All Tasmanian readers can borrow books, eBooks and eAudiobooks of the Book Week shortlisted titles from the Libraries Tasmania catalogue and at their local library. Tasmanian Government school students can read the shortlisted books via the digital reading app, Sora.

“Libraries across Tasmania are wonderful, welcoming spaces where families can grow a love of books and reading. The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Children’s Book Week is an opportunity to share the joy and magic of reading amongst children and young people. Come and join us for some Book Week magic”, said Patrick Gregory, Executive Director, Libraries Tasmania.
