7. Children’s programs and events

Our public libraries have spaces tailored for children’s collections, activities and events. These spaces generally cater for children under 12 years and their families. Early-learning programs such as Rock and Rhyme and Storytime are facilitated for younger children along with their parent. Adults are typically not permitted to participate in an early learning activity unless they are accompanying a child in their care, or they have made prior arrangements with staff.

Libraries Tasmania offers activities and events for older children aged 12-17 years. These events are advertised with the recommended age group. Parents must provide contact details upon registration. Supervision is limited to the event’s duration.
