What will grandparents, kids, aunts and uncles, parents and caregivers be doing next Wednesday? Reading and growing together of course!
Libraries Tasmania is very excited to host National Simultaneous Storytime at 11:00 am on Wednesday, 25 May 2022 at public libraries around the State.
Building a sense of community and a love of reading, each year one book by an Australian author and illustrator is read at the same time, in hundreds of libraries, bookshops, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, and family homes across Australia.
This year’s book is Family Tree, written by Josh Pyke and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh. The book depicts a society growing together in unity around a gum tree and is a heartfelt celebration of diversity and the seasons of life.

National Simultaneous Storytime is a wonderful way for nearly two million people across Australia and New Zealand to share their love of reading and the joy it brings us,” said Anna-Maree Scott-McGuinness, Information Services Coordinator, Hobart Library.
National Simultaneous Storytime, supported annually by the Australian Library and Information Association, is a free, fun and engaging event that encourages families to read together. Last year over 1.98 million people participated at over 33 thousand locations.
