Join local author Dawn Meredith for a reading of her new book Hairy Scary Fairytales, followed by a creative activity. Perfect for children aged 5-12 years and their families.

Books will be available for purchase with the opportunity to get them signed by Dawn.

About the book:

Some fairytales are funny. Some fairytales are sad. And some fairytales are dangerous. What if your little sister became trapped inside a scary fairytale and could not escape? Lizzy’s careless wish, that she didn’t have a pesky sister at all, has made little Georgie disappear. Now Lizzy must battle big, furry bears, a crazy witch, an enormous ogre and a sly wolf to get her little sister safely back home. But nothing is as scary as it seems at first, in this hilarious adventure.

About the author:

Dawn Meredith is an Artist and Author of 17 books for children, young adults and adults in fiction and non-fiction, in a career spanning 26 years. She worked as a Special Needs Teacher and Children’s Counsellor for many years. Her other interests include singing in choirs and small groups, playing piano and guitar, knitting and gardening. She lives on a 100 acre farm in Northern Tasmania where platypus play in the dam, Wedge Tailed eagles soar above and all kinds of birds visit her garden.

Will I need to print my ticket?

No, a physical ticket is not required if you have your ticket on your phone or have photo ID.

Where can I park?

There is metered parking outside the entrance of the library on Alexander Street. Varying Times -Easy Park App available

Are there disabled parking spots?

There are 2 signposted disabled spots directly in front of the library. You will need to display your permit to park here.

Is the library accessible for wheelchairs?

There is a wheelchair ramp at the front entrance to the Burnie Library and an elevator located inside the library at the back of the building.

Are there baby feeding and changing facilities?

There is a unisex public toilet adjacent to the children’s playroom with a baby change table. We also have a small room near the children’s area for feeding.

Are there toilets in the library?

There are public toilets on the ground floor of the library with both public and private cubicles.

Is there food and drinks available in the library?
The Library Bean Café is open Monday to Wednesday 9.30am-4pm with a selection of snacks, hot and cold drinks with gluten free and vegetarian options available.
