Pull up a chair, grab a hot drink and get reading. Warm Winter Read is a feel-good winter challenge for Tasmanians aged 16 and over.
Join our statewide winter reading challenge and make it easy (and fun) to read a little more – or jump back into reading – across June, July and August.

What’s involved?
Once you have registered, you can:
- discover book recommendations from well-known Australian authors
- track your reading online
- take part in reading challenges online and at your local library
- collect digital badges as you complete challenges
- write book reviews and share your thoughts with others.
How to join
It’s easy and free to participate:
- Visit your local library or register online through the ReadBooks site.
- Log your reading and activities on the ReadBooks website.
- Start reading – anything and anywhere you like!
Prize draws
The Warm Winter Read features four prize levels, which you can reach by logging reading days and submitting book reviews either online through ReadBooks or on the paper entry forms available at your local library.
Prize levels
- Level 1 (Book voucher): Track 5 days of reading or submit 1 book review.
- Level 2 (Bookish hamper): Track 10 days of reading or submit 3 book reviews.
- Level 3 (Sony headphones): Track 20 days of reading or submit 6 book reviews.
- Level 4 (Kobo eReader): Track 45 days of reading or submit 9 book reviews.
Eligibility
To be in the draw to win, participants must:
- be aged 16 or above
- be a registered as a Tasmanian participant
- be registered on the ReadBooks website or have returned paper reading logs to your local library by Sunday 6 September 2026
- complete the specific number of book reviews OR reading days logged to be eligible.
Young Readers prize
If you are aged 16–25, you will also go into an additional prize draw to win a book voucher.
To be eligible for this prize draw you need to
- be aged 16–25
- track 20 days of reading or submit 6 book reviews
- meet all other eligibility criteria.
