Taking part in the Premier’s Reading Challenge? Your library can help you find your next book. The Premier’s Reading Challenge encourages Tasmanian students to read more books and discover the joy of reading.

Little Explorers book packs

Grab a Little Explorers book pack and enjoy themed books and low or no cost activities for children aged 4-8 and their families to enjoy side by side. Discover each Little Explorers character and themed book pack:

Here on Sea Country exhibition in Nipaluna/Hobart

Based on the book Here on Sea Country is a new free exhibition showing from 4 July 2026 at State Library and Archives of Tasmania, Level 2, 91 Murray Street, Nipaluna/Hobart, Lutruwita/Tasmania 7000.

Warm Winter Read

Cosy up with a book these school holidays and log your reading to children for Warm Winter Read! Parents, grandparents and carers can read with younger kids, and count the reading towards the Warm Winter Read challenge – building healthy reading habits for the whole family.

If you’re aged 16–25, this one’s for you too! Join Warm Winter Read, discover something new at your local library or place a hold online, and start logging your reads. There’s even a prize category just for young readers aged 16–25.
