Libraries Tasmania

Libraries Tasmania is comprised of the State Library and Archives of Tasmania (including the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts), 46 public libraries, the Risdon Prison Library and the Office of the State Archivist. In addition to a range of physical and online materials, Libraries Tasmania provides:

  • Tasmanian Government students with Sora, the student reading ap by Overdrive.
  • Members with Studiosity, a free 24/7 online study support service.

Aboriginal Education Library

The Aboriginal Education Services Library offers a statewide lending service with a focus on Aboriginal culture, particularly Tasmanian Aboriginal history and culture. It supports teachers, pre-service teachers, early learning students throughout Tasmania with resources and information. Membership is open to all schools and anyone with an interest in Indigenous issues.

English as an Additional Language Library

The library offers a statewide lending service with a focus on English language resources for newly arrived humanitarian entrants, or ongoing English language learners. It supports DECYP EAL teachers, mainstream teacher assistants, Libraries Tasmania tutors and pre-service teachers. Clients wishing to borrow material must be enrolled members of the service.

Learning Services North Library

Learning Services North, based at Newstead Campus, provides a collection of professional support material focusing on educational theory and practice. In order to borrow Learning Services Support material, clients must be enrolled borrowers. Membership is open to all employees of the DECYP.
