Libraries Tasmania is giving you the chance to win a VIP Experience to see Looking for Alibrandi at the Theatre Royal in August.
Looking for Alibrandi tells the story of third-generation Italian Josie as she navigates class, identity and family history in her final year of high school.
The play is based on the award-winning book of the same name released in 1992, which spoke for the first time about systemic racism in Australia from a migrant perspective.
Award-winning director Stephen Nicolazzo’s theatre production of Looking for Alibrandi has passion, laughs and beauty – along with live passata sauce making, traditional Italian music and a soundtrack of Australian pop classics.

Each VIP Experience includes:

Win a VIP Experience to see Looking for Alibrandi at the Theatre Royal in August 2025
This competition is run by Libraries Tasmania in conjunction with the Theatre Royal.
Information on how to enter and eligibility to be entered into the draw and prize details form part of these conditions.
The competition prize pool consists of two VIP Experiences to see Looking for Alibrandi at the Theatre Royal in Hobart. The VIP Experiences are only valid on Wednesday 27 August at 7:30 pm. The prizes are provided by the Theatre Royal.
Each VIP Experience includes:
- 2 tickets to the opening night of Looking for Alibrandi
- 2 tickets to pre-show tombola with Mamma Rosa
- A cheese pack for two
- 2 drinks on arrival
- Invitation to the post show VIP event
To enter, participants must fill out the form on the Libraries Tasmania website.
Entries open on Tuesday 29 July at 4:00 pm and close on Monday 11 August at 11:59 pm. Entries received outside this period will not be counted.
Entry is available to the general public who live in Tasmania and are 15 years or older. Entrants may only enter once in the entry form.
Once the competition has closed, two winners will be randomly chosen from entries. Each winner will receive a VIP Experience.
Libraries Tasmania will contact winners by Wednesday 13 August 2025 and will pass contact details to the Theatre Royal, who will send VIP Experience details to winners.
Each winner’s first name may be announced on the Libraries Tasmania Facebook page or other Libraries Tasmania communications platforms unless the winner requests otherwise.
Libraries Tasmania may require a winner to provide evidence of their identity, including their Tasmanian address. Entries which do not comply with these terms and conditions will not be accepted.
Libraries Tasmania collects personal information about entrants in the course of running this competition and does so in accordance with its privacy policy at Tasmanian Government Personal Information Protection (www.tas.gov.au).
If for any reason the competition cannot be run as planned, Libraries Tasmania reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the competition and/or amend these terms and conditions.
Library Tasmania’s decision is final with respect to all matters relating to the competition and no correspondence will be entered into with respect to those decisions.

The tickets are being provided by the Theatre Royal, Hobart, corner of Collins and Campbell Streets, Hobart, TAS, 7001.
The tickets can only be used for the performance of Looking for Alibrandi at the Theatre Royal in Hobart on Wednesday 27 August at 7:30 pm.
Details as to the redemption of the prize will be provided at the time the prize winner is notified.
Should the prize winner decide to accept the prize they must, at the promoter’s request, participate in all promotional activity (such as publicity and photography) surrounding the winning of the prize, free of charge, and consent to the promoter using their name and image in promotional material (this may include inclusion on the Theatre Royal’s social media and website).
