NFHM Webinar – Convicts in Space at Devonport Library

22 August at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join Libraries Tasmania Fellow Dr Richard Tuffin as he discusses Convicts in space: using the archives to locate Tasmania’s convict past.

Tasmania’s modern landscape is founded upon the places built by and for convict labour. Through the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives we are able to locate and understand these important places, opening the path to their recognition and protection. Focusing on the pivotal Probation System (1840s), Richard will show how the archives can be used to investigate such places, as well as share some of the early results of his State Library Fellowship research.

The event is part of National Family History Month at the State Library of Tasmania.
