1. Purpose
The Intellectual Freedom Policy (the Policy) outlines Libraries Tasmania’s commitment to intellectual freedom, that is, an individuals’ rights to freedom of thought, opinion and expression1, including the freedom to choose what they read. These principles are reflected in our diverse collections, services, programs and spaces and it is our social responsibility to balance this with our commitment to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming environments for library users and staff.
