Get Online Week – let’s get digital with the library!

Media Release
14 October 2026

Libraries Tasmania helps people of all ages and abilities build the digital skills and confidence they need for everyday life.

In Get Online Week 19–25 October 2026, Libraries Tasmania is highlighting the free support, programs and resources available at public libraries across the state to help everyone get connected and take part in the digital world.

Get Online Week is an initiative of national charity Good Things Foundation Australia. Hundreds of free digital skills events are held around Australia each year, supporting people to build confidence online and make the most of technology.

  • ‘We hope that people will be inspired by what Libraries Tasmania has to offer. We’re proudly supporting everyone to get online and make the most of the free resources available to enrich their lives,’ said Anita Anderwald, Digital Inclusion and Adult Learning Coordinator at Libraries Tasmania.

To encourage people to explore digital support available through Libraries Tasmania, visitors can go into the draw to win an iPad during Get Online Week.

To enter, fill in the competition form from 12 October on the Get Online Week webpage after completing one or more of the following online or in-person activities.

  • browsing our new ‘What’s On’ website
  • meeting with one of our Digital Mentors
  • attending a Get Online Week event
  • chatting with our staff about our eLibrary collection of online books, newspapers and magazines.

The competition closes at 5:00 pm on 30 October:

Library staff are on hand to help visitors find out more and take part in events during Get Online Week, including:
