Families looking for holiday fun can find free activities at their local library this summer.
The Libraries Tasmania Summer school holiday program offers activities statewide for children from birth to high school in science, art and craft and games.
“There is something for everyone, including virtual reality, PS4 Tournaments, and learn to play Pokémon,” said Simon Burrett, Children and Young People Services Coordinator.
“Our popular Rock and Rhyme and Storytime sessions are also on for the pre-schoolers. All activities are free.”
Families can find activities at libraries across the north, north west, and south of Tasmania and book online.
Highlights include:
- Drive in cinema: craft and movie at Huonville Library
- School Holiday – Bingo! at Sorell Library
- Black Out Poetry at Hobart Library
- Oculus Quest 2 VR Headsets at Lilydale Library
- Little Bang Science at St Helens Library
- Learn to Play: Pokémon Trading Card Game at Launceston Library
- VR Session at Ulverstone Library
- PS4 Tournament at Devonport Library
- Rice Maps Adventure at Smithton Library
- Manga and Anime Art Session at Queenstown Library
Libraries Tasmania is also running a Design a Library Card Competition. The competition is open to all children and young people statewide and closes on 31 January 2024.
