August is National Family History Month, and the State Library of Tasmania and Tasmanian Archives are presenting a full program of free public talks, practical workshops and behind-the-scenes tours.
Whether you’re researching your family history tree, have an interest in social history or love all things genealogical, there’s something for newcomers and seasoned history buffs alike.
The month-long program includes many events available to livestream at home or at library locations across Tasmania.
National Family History Program highlights
- Attend workshops to learn how to use Trove and the Names Index to research your family history.
- Take a behind-the-scenes tour through the Tasmanian Archives at Geilston Bay.
- Discover the art of yarning with Dean Greeno.
- Uncover the stories of Chinese Australian families with Dr. Kate Bagnall.
- Discover who applied extreme penalties in Tasmanian Courts with Brian Rieusset.
