History note:
The 1831 Bristol riots took place on 29-31 October 1831, and were part of the 1831 reform riots in England. Trials of the rioters were held in January 1832. Some were sentenced to death, some imprisoned, and 22 people were transported to Australia. The city's Mayor was also tried and military leaders court-martialled.
