History note:
A head and shoulders portrait of George Richard Lewis, facing front. George Richard Lewis was the fourth son of Richard Lewis, an auctioneer and merchant who arrived in Hobart Town in 1815. He founded a commercial and shipping business later known as R. Lewis & Sons. George Richard Lewis drowned when his boat capsized on a pleasure cruise in Shanghai, China in 1851.
Condition:
Condition: Frame minor dents and scratches. Slip separated at corners. Minor scratching of early glass. Minor abrasion of media. Slight discolouration of paper support with fly spots, a dent top left corner and minor white spots. Possible previous repair to tears bottom center.
