Indexes to Tasmanian records

Introduction

We hold massive amounts of records. In order to help locate information about a topic or person, staff, volunteers and others have produced indexes.

Our other guides to records link to relevant indexes, and also suggest other information that might be useful. We suggest you start your research with those guides. For example, the Guide to Military and Defence includes a range of indexes relevant to that topic.

Search and view many records including Tasmanian birth, death and marriage records including convicts, inquests, birth, death and marriage records and more.

Notes

Published indexes are gradually being digitised where we hold the copyright. However, some indexes cannot be digitised by us as we do not hold the copyright. For example, we hold copies of indexes created by the Tasmanian Genealogical Society and others that refer to our records. You are welcome to view these indexes when you visit, but we cannot make them available online.
