Introduction

Directories and almanacs have information about where a person lived, their work and sometimes details about their lives. Directories are published lists of names, usually arranged alphabetically or by location.

Notes

There are Tasmanian telephone directories from 1906. Until 1970 a single volume covered the entire state. Since 1971 there have been three telephone directories covering:

Government departments, and other large institutions such as the university, often produce their own internal directories.
