The Story Stones project

What do stories mean to you?

“Find your Story Stone around the campfires”

Join libraries in Southern Tasmania for a Libraries Tasmania and Dark Mofo project. This year, Libraries Tasmania is asking the community to write a response on a stone of what ‘story’ means to them.

At Stories After Dark, Level 1 of the State Library and Archives building will become the stage for theatrical campfires with a rotating program of performance storytellers. Surrounding each campfire will be a collection of hundreds of Story Stones as a gesture of how storytelling brings community together.

The far-reaching Story Stones project includes responses from people at Risdon Prison, Hobart Women’s Shelter, Mathers Place, Dark Lab, ABC Hobart, City of Hobart’s Youth ARC, Libraries Tasmania literacy program, 26Ten, and all the southern public libraries.
