Everyone is welcome at Libraries Tasmania
Our libraries are safe spaces.
You can read about the principles which form our commitment to diversity and inclusion on our website.
Libraries Tasmania is celebrating TasPride 2025 with a range of free activities across the state in February, including:
Language Matters workshops
Attend a Language Matters workshop, run by Working It Out, in the north, north west and south of Tasmania. Learn how identity and language can better include people of diverse gender, sex or sexuality.
Rainbow library cards
Choose a rainbow library card design when you become a member. We introduced these during TasPride last year.
Youth LGBTIQA+ friendly maker spaces
Young people age 15 and over can show their pride at Maker Spaces at Launceston Library and Devonport Library. Make a range of items, including ezines, artworks, badges, cross stitch flags and more. Also connect with other young people, library staff and staff from Working It Out and headspace. Read more about the Maker Space.
Help knit a communal rainbow scarf at Hobart Library
The Knitworking group will be creating a rainbow scarf to celebrate TasPride. Grab some wool and knitting needles from the front desk at Hobart Library and add a row or two any time from Thursday 6 February. No knitting skills needed.
Extend the rainbow at Rosny Library
Join in colouring a rainbow down the corridor of the library and leave a positive message embracing Pride Month.
Rainbow Rocks Create Station at Glenorchy Library
Drop in and decorate a stone to show your pride. Find out more details about Rainbow Rocks.
Displays
Keep an eye out for some wonderful displays, including Pride flags made from Pokémon cards at Launceston Library.
