Storytime brings community together

“We are so excited to read The Speedy Sloth…”

Join your community and read together in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS), held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) on Wednesday 24 May 2023 at 11:00 am.

Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

This year, Libraries Tasmania hosts National Simultaneous Storytime all around Lutruwita/Tasmania, reading an inspiring story – The Speedy Sloth by award-winning creators Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie and published by Scholastic.

“We are so excited to read The Speedy Sloth by award-winning creators Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie this year! National Simultaneous Storytime is a fantastic book reading event, with millions of school aged children listening in to the story at libraries and other venues across Australia and New Zealand,” said Jesse Eynon, Information Services Coordinator, Glenorchy Library.

National Simultaneous Storytime, supported annually by the Australian Library and Information Association, is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy.

Join in for National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 24 May 2023 at your local library. Register via Libraries Tasmania Events.
