National Simultaneous Storytime

Libraries Tasmania is very excited to celebrate 20 years of National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) at 11:00 am on Wednesday, 27 May.

Every year, libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country simultaneously read a picture book by an Australian author and illustrator.

Last year, over 1.13 million people at over eleven thousand locations participated in this wonderful event designed to encourage a love of reading.

This year, NSS will be done a little differently, as our libraries across the state use Facebook to connect with families and schools.

Libraries Tasmania staff and special guests will read the book Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford online. (There may even be some chickens!)

Special guest readers include Jimmy and Nath from Hit 100.9 at Rosny Library, Greg Irons, Director, Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary at Bridgewater Library and ABC presenter Leon Compton will amuse as he reads the book at Hobart Library.

Head to one of our statewide Libraries Tasmania Facebook pages to see the National Simultaneous Storytime online at 11:00 am on Wednesday, 27 May.
