Exhibition Program

The Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts has a calendar of changing exhibitions within its purpose built art gallery. The gallery is located on the ground floor of Libraries Tasmania in Hobart.

Exhibitions are chosen to reflect on, and to enhance, the library’s heritage and archival collections. These collections include rare books, manuscripts, fine and decorative arts, objects, ephemera, convict records, and an extensive documentary record of Tasmanian history.

We have an average of one to two exhibitions featuring Tasmanian contemporary artists per year. This is an opportunity to exhibit in a quality, highly valued space in central Hobart.

Artists are warmly encouraged to submit an exhibition proposal. Please include a professional resume and high quality images of your work. Images can be sent via Wetransfer with ‘Exhibition Proposal – [title of exhibition]’ once this form has been submitted.

The submission closing date is Friday 7 June 2019. Your exhibition proposal will be assessed by an exhibition committee and you will be informed of the outcome by the 30 June 2019.

Please note: The Allport gallery space is provided free of charge for the duration of the exhibition. However the library does not provide cash support for expenses related to developing the exhibition (Framing etc). Gallery staff can pass on artists’ contact details to interested buyers and no commission fee is charged on the sale of work.

Please submit your proposal to the Curator via the form below, or by email at: allport@education.tas.gov.au.

For further information contact the Curator by phone (03) 6165 6086 or by email allport@education.tas.gov.au.
