THE ALLPORT LIBRARY AND MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS GALLERY ANNUAL PROGRAM

The Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts has a calendar of changing exhibitions in its contemporary gallery space. The gallery is located on the ground floor of the Libraries Tasmania building at 91 Murray Street, Hobart.

We hold one or two exhibitions featuring Tasmanian contemporary artists per year. These form part of our internally curated program of exhibitions. This is a unique opportunity to exhibit in a quality, highly valued space in central Hobart.

We are particularly interested in exhibitions that provide a contemporary interpretation of Tasmanian subjects, including Tasmanian life, landscape, history, flora, fauna, significant events.

Our heritage and archival collections can provide a rich source of comparison. These collections include rare books, manuscripts, fine and decorative arts, objects, ephemera, convict records and an extensive documentary record of Tasmanian history.

Submissions from Tasmanian artists are warmly encouraged during an annual call for submission time which is advertised on our website (around August each year).

Submissions are now closed for the 2022 Gallery program.
